About Benning Violins

Benning Violins - formerly known as Studio City Music - is a Los Angeles-area mainstay violin shop offering an extensive catalog of fine violins, violas, cellos and bows for sale crafted by old and modern masters.

We are a family-owned and operated store since 1953 and have a long tradition of expert service and meeting the needs of musicians, from the beginner to the professional.

We perform restorations and repairs on fine instruments and bows. We offer expert appraisals of instruments as well as consignment sales.

For three generations, the Benning family name has been synonymous with the making of fine, master-crafted violins, violas and cellos. Instruments crafted by Eric Benning are owned and played by a number of premier players, concert performers and recording artists.

Since the launch of our web site, we have grown into an International enterprise, shipping fine instruments and bows, accessories, as well as lesser-cost student outfits set up in our workshop, all over the world.

Shipping

Our Shipping and Receiving Department is open from Tuesday to Friday, and closed on weekends and holidays. Weekend delivery is not offered.

Small items (shoulder rests, strings, etc.) are shipped via USPS.

Large items (instruments, bows, ect.) are shipped via UPS* Ground.

Next Day and Second Day Air items are shipped via UPS.

We endeavor to provide the best shipping costs for our customers, and reserve the right to select the most appropriate shipping method based on what is purchased.

UPS requires a valid street address and cannot be delivered to a post office box.

We do NOT accept international orders not do we ship internationally.

Instrument Sales

Before shipping, each instrument is personally inspected by one of our in-shop Luthiers and played by our in-house professionals to ensure the best possible tone and playability.

We pack each instrument with the utmost care in order to keep it secure in transit. Instruments may require 3 to 5 business days to prepare before shipping. When possible, we do our best to ship them out sooner.

Order Processing

If an order is placed before 1PM PST Tuesday to Friday, it will be shipped out the same day.

All other orders will be shipped out the next business day.

Upon leaving our facility, you will receive an email confirmation with tracking information.

Orders of small goods may take up to 7 business days to arrive. Large items will take 2 to 5 days to arrive.

HI, AK,and Military Base Customers

Shipping to HI, AK or to US Military Bases require special services or overseas transportation; Because of this process, customers will be emailed a shipping quote within one business day.

Expedited Shipping

We offer expedited shipping via UPS Second-day air or Next-day air. An expedited order placed before the cutoff on Friday will ship that day, and arrive the following Tuesday for Second-day shipping, or Monday for Next-day shipping (with the exception of holidays). Expedited shipping options are valid only for in-stock items.

Out of Stock

If an item is out of stock, it may be placed on backorder. Once the item is in-stock, it will be shipped out. Payment for orders is placed once the item ships. Out of stock items on orders are automatically back ordered. We send all available items in one shipment, and ship the missing items when they are back in stock. Back ordered items can be cancelled any time between the back order being placed and the item shipping out. No additional shipping charge is applied
